Company's new retail store to add at least 700 full time jobs to the community.
Nebraska-based home retailer NFM (Nebraska Furniture Mart) will open its fifth store in the city of Cedar Park, Texas, approximately 16 miles northwest of downtown Austin. The store will be part of CedarView, a development that will include a 250-room, 4-star hotel as well as a 30,000 square-foot convention center.
“At NFM, we are in the business of improving peoples’ lifestyles which includes our customers, staff, and our communities and we are excited to add our second store in Texas,” said Tony Boldt, NFM President and CEO. “The city of Cedar Park and its surrounding communities have a great quality of life, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”
NFM is a one-stop shop for the home, specializing in furniture, flooring, appliances, and electronics. They offer a wide range of services including interior design, delivery, and installation. Currently, NFM’s locations in Omaha, Kansas City, and The Colony are the top three largest volume home furnishing stores in the United States.
The family-run, fourth-generation, US-based company’s new retail store will be 1.2 million square feet. It’s anticipated that there will be at least 700 full-time employees working in the new store including managers, interior designers, sales professionals, customer service specialists, and warehouse personnel. NFM currently has approximately 4,800 employees. NFM places a priority on giving back to the community, and staff are provided with 40 hours of paid volunteer time off each year. In their 85-year history, NFM hasn’t had a single layoff, and they were named a Best Place to Work by Furniture Today in 2021 & 2022.
“My family and I are so excited about NFM coming to Cedar Park,” said Jim Penniman-Morin, Mayor of Cedar Park. “This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Cedar Park, and we warmly welcome NFM to our community. We know that NFM carefully researched communities across the nation for their next location, and ultimately, they chose Cedar Park for the same reason so many of us want to be here. It’s because Cedar Park is a vibrant city with such a great quality of life and welcoming, friendly people. I was very impressed by the thoughtful way that their existing development in north Texas blends the truly local and the truly global into a seamless retail experience, and I really look forward to seeing how NFM is able to build something just as vibrant and unique here in Cedar Park.”
The timetable isn’t confirmed, but construction is expected to begin as early as 2024. To learn more about NFM, click here to read their press kit.
